Para Janov and Port Wine
The restaurant is located in the courtyard on the lane of director Sergyi Parajanov – this became the reason to look at the concept of the spot through the eyes of a maestro who was born in Georgia and worked in Armenia and Ukraine. For those who appreciate his art and delicious food, “Para Janov and Port Wine” will become a favorite place in Lviv.
“I will take revenge to the world with love,” said the director. In “Pair Janov and Port Wine” decided to improve this weapon. Here you will find a wide selection of alcohol: wine, sherry and vermouth. And the most important feature of this spot – port wine. Pair Janov knows everything about them. Authentic snacks are also available with alcohol. In particular, the traditional Armenian pastries – zhengyalov khats. It is prepared with different fillings, so do not stop at one and try several of them. Also you can find there popular sandwiches “Ruben”, sardines and phali from spinach and beets.
A delicious breakfast is the key to a good day, so it is prepared throughout the day at “Para Janov and Port Wine”. Whichever you wake up to, scrambled eggs with tomatoes and mint, toast with avocado and Gravlax salmon and poached egg with Golandes sauce will be waiting for you. You should betray even your favorite croissants with coffee for this.
“Pars Janov and Port Wine” is a part of Armenia in Ukraine. And this is confirmed not only by food and drinks, but also by the interior of the place. Made in the best traditions, it seems to transport you to hospitable Armenia, with its authentic furniture, natural wood trim, wrought iron lamps and arches. We are sure that the maestro would appreciate this spot. It’s your turn to do it.
It is an unusual museum with the main exhibit – City. First of all, this is a place where people communicate with residents, create modern urban culture and rethink themselves and history in the context of heritage.
The city is the people. Therefore, “City Museum” together with visitors explores and learns the urban identity through the connection with the past. It helps you to understand yourself in the modern world and influence on the future of the city.
The first exhibition in the museum is called “Hero’s Journey: The Last Week of Summer”. Its main idea is to tell how a child in the age of active cognition independently explores the city as an environment of his life. There are different stories in it, but they all end on returning home with a new experience and a new understanding of yourself and your city. An amazing thing about this exhibition is that it is completely interactive. Watch other people’s video stories about urban childhood and record your own, draw, write, take quizzes, look at photos (and bring your own – they will be scanned and given away) and tell about the routes that you first overcame on your own. When you walk along Rynok Square, be sure to go down to the dungeon of Lviv City Hall between coffee – it will be interesting.
Other exhibits are also planned at the City Museum, so stay tuned to see everything.
! FESTrepublic is a city within a city. This space has a special atmosphere, its own traditions and values, and even the interior resembles city streets with various signs and plaques. Here, just a 20-minute walk from Rynok Square, are some of the best festivals, parties and themed events in Lviv. In addition, top DJs from around the world and Ukrainian bands also often perform.
Prior to construction, FESTrepublic on 24–26 Staroznesenska Street abandoned the old Halychsklo factory, which was used to make glass bottles. The area was empty due to the lack of an owner who could revive the plant for a long time. So there was an idea to build a space where tourists and Lviv residents can spend time outside the Rynok Square.
At! FESTrepublic, everyone will find something to their liking. And in the break between entertainments, we advise you to try coffee there, because, regardless of the position, everyone knows how to brew it well in! FEST.
Jam Factory Art Center (Bohdan Khmelnytsky Street, 124)
Alcohol was made here in the 19th century, and in Soviet times, vegetables and fruits were processed in this place. Today Jam Factory Art Center is a center of contemporary art, which hosts cultural and artistic projects, exhibitions, art festivals and performances. New trends in art are presented here; new names are discovered and collaborations internationally are created .
“Jam Factory Art Center” unites different spheres of art, so everyone will find here their own space to jointly create something unusual.
We definitely recommend visiting “Jam Factory” (the name was created by the artists who started using these spots in 2009-2010), if you love modern art and follow its development.
And one more find for connoisseurs of modern art. “I Gallery” – Pavel Gudimov’s art center – curator, collector and musician. The gallery’s activities are not limited to organizing exhibitions – the art center conducts lectures and workshops, round tables and discussions, initiates museum projects, organizes exhibitions of Ukrainian artists outside the country and collects a library.
“I Gallery” is developing autonomously and actively, creating new unique cultural networks and introducing new practices in the Ukrainian artistic context.
Despite the fact that the art center is located near the city center, only those who are interested in art know about it. “I Gallery” – terra incognita for the general public, so it retains its special intimacy.
The art center also actively maintains social networks, where it tells a lot and interesting about art and news.
SHOco – is a bakery-confectionery with an easy philosophy – simple, modern and very tasty. You will not be served a croissant in the form of a croissant there, because they are responsible for the quality of their sweets and know how the first differs from the second.
If there was a museum of desserts in Lviv, macaroons and eclairs from SHOco would definitely be the most popular exhibits there.
Come there in the morning for delicious breakfasts, and in the evening – for a portion of your favorite dessert. But they are all so fantastic that it will be difficult to decide on your favorite. But we believe in you!
Lviv is a city of contrasts and modernity, not just historical architecture and vintage exhibits. We hope our top will help you open it from an unprecedented side.
